Words from the Dean...
Micro/Nano science and technology focuses on new phenomena, technics and rules concern in systems constructed by nanomaterials, nano building blocks and nano devices. It has become one of the most promising and active high-tech research fields in 21th century. Nano science and technology has been considered to be one of the most important research fields which seriously affect our daily life and the society after information technology and biology.
The Research Institute of Micro/Nano Science & Technology (RIMNST) was created in 1983 and was the earliest and special research institute working in micro/nano-related field in China at that time. Since then, the RIMNST at Shanghai Jiaotong University has grown and now covers many research platforms such as microfabrication, nanofabrication, micro/nano system integration, micro/nano analysis, etc. The RIMNST is organized into a cutting-edge research laboratory as the Key Laboratory of Micro/Nano Processing which is furnished with state-of-the-art equipments for various micro/nano research activities. There are currently 12 professors, 16 associate professors and 250 graduate students in the RIMNST.
Faculty and student research ranges from the purely scientific to applied studies and involves perspectives of chemistry, physics, electronics, and biology. The current research areas of the faculty in the IMNST includes:
(1)Non-Silicone micro fabrication and MEMS;
(2)Nano-bio medical technology;
(3)Nano fabrication and NAMS.
We sincerely hope to the close cooperation with foreign and domestic researchers.
